Mount Women’s Track & Field Wins at Messiah; Jones-Howard Breaks Triple Jump Record

EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 12, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's track & field had a banner weekend at both the Messiah Invitational and the JMU Invitational. The women's team won the event at Messiah while the men finished third. Across both meets, individuals excelled, led by Camryn Jones-Howard on the women's team and Brandon Falconer on the men's team.

With a total of 97 points, the women took the Messiah meet by 15 points over the hosts Messiah. The men earned a total of 68 points. JMU's meet did not factor in team scoring.

Jones-Howard broke the outdoor school record for the triple jump, soaring to a distance of 12.45 meters. She overtook the record from her teammate Madelyn Valpy, who secured a 12.25 meter jump last season and matched it again this year. Together, the duo stands second and third among Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) competitors.

Falconer threw the javelin for 66.67 meters to grab the conference lead and place himself 21st among NCAA East Regional athletes. He leads a trio of Mountaineers who hold the top three spots in the MAAC, with Thomas Lloyd and Brad Lee Jones right behind him. Lorelai Paxton also took first place at JMU for the women's javelin at 41.61 meters, followed by Rebecca Weir in second at 40.20 meters, and Tierney McCarroll in fourth at 35.70 meters.

Alena Murray, Joshua Dean, and Kalani Pu'uloa, led the way in the dashes. Murray leads the MAAC in the 200 meters with a time of 24.34 seconds, earned at JMU, where she won the event. Dean also won the 100 meters there, and his 10.62 second time ranks second in the league. Pu'uloa finished third with 21.59 seconds at JMU, also securing himself third in the MAAC.

At Messiah, there were several winners among the Mountaineers, including Alexe Gauthier (200m, 25.09 seconds), Chloe McCarthy (10,000m, 38:18.50), Jacey Hentz (pole vault, 3.55m; triple jump, 11.19m), Dante Elliott (high jump, 1.97m), and Tyler Cash (pole vault, 4.63m). Riley Bell (5000m), the 4x400 relay team of Haile Otto, Gauthier, Fatu Crain, Karen Yeboah, and Ella Dougher (pole vault) all earned runner-up showings. Sara Taylor (200m), Hentz (100h), Jada Creager (pole vault), Ethan Vilaver (5000m), Preston Jackson (400h), Donovan Harrington (high jump/long jump, Reese Olenik (long jump), Nando Meggs (long jump), and the men's 4x400 relay team of Jackson, Kamron Wilkerson, Colby Hawkins, and Maurece Jean-Brian all earned finishes in the top five.

The Mount also had a second squad of Joseph Poleate, Atebeh Awungjia, Harrison Akoarrey, and Abraham Eason take third in the same event at 3:29.93.
