EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 15, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's soccer marches on their road trip, taking on Towson Sunday at Tiger Field.
MOUNT UPDATE
During the season opener, the Mountaineers fell to the Delaware Blue Hens by a 5-2 final.
Taylor Simmons tallied a goal and assist in the contest, while
Cassidy Nichols recorded her first collegiate strike. Abigail Makaela and
Anna Joyce shared responsibility in goal, with the duo combining for four saves in the game.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson opens their 2025 campaign with the Mountainners, coming off a 6-4-9 showing in 2024. Sophie Thibeault sparked the Tigers offense last year with 16 points off seven goals and two assists, and she returns to the team this year. They will be looking to replace goalie Riley Melendez and her 0.89 goals against average put up in her ultimate year.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Sunday's meeting marks the 24
th time the Mountaineers and Tigers play each other. Towson holds the upper hand in the series, with Mount winning matches in 1995, 2010, and 2012. Kelly Baker scored twice in the latter match, and goals by Alicia Mirando and Ragan Cote led to a 4-1 victory.
LOOKING AHEAD
Next Sunday (Aug. 24), the Mount wraps up its three-game road trip with a contest at Penn. The home opener is Wednesday, August 27 against Shepherd.
