EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 20, 2025) – Senior
Taylor Simmons scored her second goal of the season as Mount St. Mary's women's soccer battled Quinnipiac on the road Saturday. The Bobcats were able to cut through the Mountaineers' defensive line to capture the win by a 5-1 final.
Simmons' strike came in the 63
rd minute, blasting a cross-goal shot into the upper left corner and past the futile dive of Quinnipiac keeper Olivia Jarvis.
Ines Gama Ferreira provided the pass to set up the goal, marking the first assist for the senior this season.
Jarvis and the rest of the Bobcats defense kept the visitors at bay the rest of the afternoon, allowing Quinnipiac to attain a 4-0 advantage before the goal by Simmons. Morgan Cupo scored twice along with goals from Bianca D'Onofrio and Klara Bengtsson. In the closing minutes, Ava Young capped off the scoring with an 89
th minute goal.
Quinnipiac held the advantage in shots, 18-11, with 10 on goal. Mountaineers goalkeeper
Abigail Makela matched her counterpart in saves with five.
With the defeat, the Mount falls to 3-5 overall with a 1-2 mark in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play. This Wednesday (Sept. 24), they return home to battle Niagara in a 3 p.m. matinee contest.
