EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 18, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's soccer is going for their second consecutive win and looks to earn a victory over Quinnipiac for the second year in a row as the two teams meet this Saturday in Connecticut.
MOUNT UPDATE
Righting the ship after a challenging Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener, the Mount rebounded with a 3-2 victory over Saint Peter's last Saturday.
Ines Gama Ferreira struck first, followed by goals from
Joelle Hamel and
Lillian Young. Gama Ferreira and Young put in their first goals of the season, bringing the total to eight Mountaineers that have found the back of the net.
Cassidy Nichols maintains her points lead among teammates with eight on three goals and a pair of assists.
Abigail Makela added three saves to bring her season total to 27.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac came up with their first victory of the season in their MAAC opener, defeating Rider 2-1, before earning a 2-2 draw with Niagara. The Bobcats are known for staunch defense, but with a tough schedule, have made 12 concessions after 14 all last year. On offense, Milena Branco has half the team's goal total, scoring thrice this season.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
The Bobcats hold a 12-3-2 advantage in the all-time series, but last season, the Mountaineers notched an upset victory.
Taylor Simmons and
Kayla Pennington registered goals while
Adelaide Paredes and the defense provided a clean sheet for the 2-0 result.
LOOKING AHEAD
Returning to Waldron Family Stadium on Wednesday (Sept. 24), Mount St. Mary's takes on Niagara. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
