EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 2, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's cross country took home a seventh-place finish for the men's team and a 12th place finish for the women at the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships in Montgomery, New York.
Niels Peeters was the top finisher on either side, running the men's 8K in 24:46.7 to come in 18
th place. Peeters also beat his personal record from earlier this year of 25:13.7 by 27 seconds.
Elizabeth Freymann led the women's 6K for the Mount with a time of 22:30.0, landing 50
th among the group and beat her own personal record from last year by 1.9 seconds.
Point scorers for the men included
John Ruona (25:41.8),
EJ Villaver (26:39.4),
Kevin Zaleski (26:44.8), and
Samuel Serrano (26:45.8).
Laura McConville (23:25.2),
Nuria Escudero Jimenez (23:28.2),
Mary Campbell (23:33.1), and
Maeve Parrish (23:34.8) all factored in the scoring for the women's race.
Both the men's and women's teams improved their times from the 2023 championship. Ruona, Villaver, McConville, Escudero Jimenez, and Parrish also all beat their personal records from prior races.
