EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 4, 2026) – A trio of Mount St. Mary's runners – two women and one man – paced their team in the opening cross country meet for 2026, as the university hosted the Mount 5K Duals the PNC Sports Complex Friday.
The men's team finished third with 79 points while the women took fourth with 86 points.
Chloe McCarthy finished eighth in the women's race, improving on her team-leading time from a year ago. The senior led with a time of 19:35.7. Following in her footsteps was freshman
Mary Kate Zollers, competing in the first career collegiate race. She finished at a flat time of 19:49 to come in tenth.
On the men's side,
Jack Nebbia led the charge. The freshman, also running his first race, finished in 16:29.2 to come in tenth.
Lluis Quiles Blasco was second among the Mount men's competitors, coming in 12
th at 16:44.6.
Riley Bill, Kaelynn Odums, and
Audrey Musmeci scored points for the women's team. Nic Wills,
Kyle Bretting, and Ethan Villaver with among the point scorers for the men.
Howard University swept the meet for the men's and women's races. The Bison men have won for the second time, and the women for the first time. Howard's Noah Douglas took the men's individual championship and Anna Amato of Towson took the women's individual championship.
