Mount St. Mary's Track and Field Set to Host 33-48 Challenge on Friday

The Mount St. Mary's outdoor track and field teams return to action tomorrow when the Mount hosts the 33-48 Challenge at Morgan Track on campus.  The meet will feature the Mount, Binghamton, LIU, Saint Francis U and Wagner.

MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mount is coming off a busy week that saw athletes compete at the George Mason Spring Invitational on Sunday and the Mount Invitational on Friday.  The Mount hosted the Mount Multi's last week as well.  There were plenty of highlights to go around.  For complete recaps, please click HERE for the Mount Invitational and HERE for the George Mason Spring Invitational.

NEC HONOREES:  The Mountaineers had a trio of weekly honorees from the Northeast Conference this week.  Colin Kelly collected the Men's Track Athlete of the week award after moving to the top of the NEC leaderboard with a time of 1:50.79 in the 800m at George Mason.  Dylan LaNoue was named the NEC's Field Athlete of the Week after leaping into a tie for first place on the NEC high jump performance list after winning the high jump with a mark of 2.08m (6' 9.75") at the Mount Invitational on Friday.  The last Mountaineer to collect weekly honors is Najae Nickerson, who took home NEC Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors.  Nickerson's first 400m hurdles finish of the spring season yielded a Northeast Conference-leading time. The veteran hurdler ran 1:03.39 to take first place at the Mount Invitational, establishing herself as a NEC title contender in the process.

NEC PERFORMANCE LIST:  Taking a look at the Northeast Conference leader boards, the Mount has several athletes at the top of the rankings.

Chalys Caruth:  1st in 400m dash (56.66)
Colin Kelly:  1st in 800m run (1:50.79)
Will Merritt:  1st in 10,000m run (30:57.82)
Najae Nickerson:  1st in 400m hurdles (1:03.39)
Dylan LaNoue:  T1st in high jump (2.08m, 6' 9.75") and 1st in triple jump (14.74m, 48' 4.5")
Carter Nave:  1st in pole vault (4.73m, 15' 6.25")
Dylan Myrie:  1st in long jump (6.83m, 22' 5")
Brian Sagendorf:  1st in javelin (67.14m, 220' 3")
Women's 4x400m Relay:  1st (3:57.79)
Women's 4x800m Relay:  1st (10:03.89)

UP NEXT:  The Mount will head to Saint Francis U for the Red Flash Open on Saturday, April 24, for the final tuneup before the Northeast Conference Championships on May 1-2.
