Emmitsburg, Md. (April 9, 2021)—The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams hosted the Mount Invitational at Morgan Track on campus today. Â
Najae Nickerson won the 400m hurdles with the top time in the Northeast Conference this season to lead the women's team. On the men's side,
Dylan LaNoue's mark in the high jump was good for first place at the meet while moving him into a tie for the top spot on the NEC leader board.
Nickerson recorded a time of 1:03.39 to win the 400m hurdles, moving her to the top of the NEC leader board in the event.Â
Chalys Caruth took home first place in the 200m dash with a time of 25.53 seconds while
Adria Pirozzi claimed first place in the 1,500m with a mark of 4:56.53.Â
Rachel Finn also collected a top finish, clearing 3.60m to win the pole vault.Â
Dominique Jeffery added a second-place finish in the 400m dash with a mark of 58.59 seconds.Â
Ashlynn Cook won the high jump (1.45m) with
Emily Eckard finishing second in the discus (37.44m). The 4x400m relay team moved to the top of the NEC leader board as the quartet of Nickerson, Jeffery,
Sarah Purdy and Caruth finished first with a time of 3:57.79.
LaNoue cleared 2.08m (6' 9.75") to take home first place honors in the high jump, moving into a tie for first on the NEC leader board this season. Teammate
Andrew Lamanna was second in the event with a mark of 1.93m.Â
Ucheyan Aguoru won the 100m dash (11.09) with
Lewis Kungu in second (11.37).Â
Justyn Seivright won the 400m hurdles (56.01) while the Mount's
Dylan Myrie and LaNoue finished first and second in the long jump. Myrie won with an NEC-best mark of 6.83m in the long jump with LaNoue just behind at 6.81m.
Carter Nave and
Carter Holsinger added top two finishes in the pole vault with Nave winning (4.56m) and Holsinger second (4.41m).Â
Todd Charles won the 200m dash in a time of 22.46 seconds with Aguoru second at 22.84 seconds.Â
Cyre Hooper added a second-place mark in the triple jump (13.56m).
In the conclusion of the Mount Multi's,
Josh Cella finished second in the decathlon with 5,679 points while
Delaney McKnight was second in the heptathlon with 4,155 points.
In the decathlon, Cella was second in the field in the 110m hurdles, the discus, the javelin and the 1,500m run to solidify his second-place position. In the heptathlon, McKnight had the top throw in the javelin in the field to help propel her to the second-place nod.
The Mount track and field teams will be in action again on Sunday, April 11, with athletes competing at the George Mason Spring Invitational.
