Brandon Falconer Qualifies for NCAA Nationals in Men’s Javelin

EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 27, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's sophomore Brandon Falconer qualified for the NCAA Finals in the men's javelin Wednesday, finishing 10th in a field of 48 competitors. Surpassing the top 12 placement qualification out of the NCAA East First Round, Falconer joins 23 other qualifying competitors to battle it out at the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Falconer competed in the third flight of the First Round, hosted by the University of Kentucky. He earned his placement after the first throw, which went for 66.35 meters. Still, Falconer improved on that distance, culminating in a throw of 67.28 meters on his final attempt. Holding third place after his flight, the mark withstood the fourth and final flight, which featured the top contenders in the field.

Teammate Thomas Lloyd also made the trip to Lexington, competing in the first flight. The freshman exceeded expectations as well, finishing in 28th place with 63.49 meters. Lloyd entered the meet as the 47th ranked athlete in a field of 48.

Falconer becomes the first Mountaineer to qualify for NCAA Finals since Brian Sagendorf in 2021. Sagendorf also qualified for the javelin, setting the program record for the event that year at 71.26 meters.

The NCAA Finals for men's javelin takes place on Wednesday, June 10 at 9:15 p.m. Eastern (6:15 Pacific).
