EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 9, 2026) – Defending the home track with success, Mount St. Mary's track & field is in prime position for high scores after the first day of the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Both the men's and women's team lead the field after the first day, with the men accruing 68 points and the women earning 50.
The men's javelin made the biggest impact on the Mount's scores, as the top four placements went to the Mountaineers.
Brandon Falconer won the event with 67.85 meters, and
Thomas Lloyd set a personal best and increased his placement in the NCAA Division I top 100 at 64.70 meters to come in second.
Aidan Crawford rounded out the podium finishers at 58.60 meters, while
Brad Lee Jones added fourth place for good measure at 56.73 meters.
Led by
Rebecca Weir, the women's javelin team was almost as impressive, coming in first, third, and fourth. Weir registered a 45.92 meter throw to win, setting a personal best and improving on her third best time in program history.
Lorelai Paxton finished third with 42.19 meters, followed by
Tierney McCarroll in fourth with 41.12 meters.
Camryn Jones-Howard became the third MAAC event champion for the Mount in the afternoon, winning the long jump at 5.94 meters.
Madelyn Valpy joined her as a point scorer with a 5.77 meter, earning a three-way tie for third place and five points.
Tyler Cash added his name as the fourth MAAC champion for the men's pole vault. The junior edged out his sophomore teammate
Ethan Demeter in a 1-2 finish. Both earned distances of 5.05 meters, but Cash won the tiebreaker by clearing the bar on the first try.
Four Mountaineers scored in the men's long jump, led by
Nando Meggs at 7.18 meters.
Donovan Harrington,
Atebeh Awungjia, and
Reese Olenik secured fifth through seventh place. Olenik's distance of 7.04 meters Is a personal best.
Jada Creager finished third in the women's pole vault at 3.65 meters, with
Jacey Hentz and
Ella Dougher coming in sixth and seventh. The Mount also received points from a fifth place finish and personal best time of 9:46.78 from
Lluis Quiles Blasco in the 3000 steeplechase, seventh place from
Chloe McCarthy in the women's 10,000 meter run at 38:22.97, and eighth place from
Claire Ross in the women's hammer throw at 44.26 meters.
Along with Saturday's results, 12 Mount St. Mary's runners qualified to run in finals on Sunday.
Day two of the MAAC Championship begins with the men's triple jump at 10 a.m. from Morgan Track. Running events begin at noon.
