Battle for Top MAAC Billing Commences as Mount Women’s Lacrosse Faces Fairfield

EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 7, 2026) – Three teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) remain undefeated in conference play, and two of them meet Wednesday as Mount St. Mary's takes their 5-0 record to challenge 5-0 Fairfield.  
 
MOUNT UPDATE
  • With eight goals against Iona, Brooke Molchanoff became the ninth player in program history to score 50 goals in a season. The sophomore leads the MAAC in goals per game and points per game.
  • Camille Thomas was named Defensive Player of the Week by the conference on Monday, as the junior recorded 17 saves against 14 goals allowed. Against Iona, she allowed only four goals over three quarters of play.
  • Several players are on record watch for the Mount – Hailey Chester needs three draw controls for 200 in her career and one ground ball for 100 in her career. She is on track to become the second player in Mount history after Beanie Colson to record 200-plus draw controls. Shannon McTavish is also climbing up the career draw controls leaderboard, moving into the top 10. Molchanoff stands 14 goals off the single season record set by Katelyn Catanese in 2008.
SCOUTING FAIRFIELD
  • The defending MAAC champions come into Wednesday on a six-game winning streak, blazing by Rider and Manhattan with respective scores of 18-9 and 18-5.
  • Tessa Caputo is Fairfield's points leader with 48 points thanks to 31 assists. The Stags have a pair of 20-plus goal scorers in Kelly Haggerty (32) and Haley Burns (23).
  • Whitney Robinson has 81 saves for the season, and Burns is also one of two to lead the defense, leading with 31 caused turnovers. Sophia Colasacco has the most ground balls with 27.
ALL-TIME SERIES
  • Fairfield leads the all-time series, 7-4.
  • Mount earned their first win against the Stags since 2006 last season, taking the game 10-7 last April 5.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE

On Saturday (Apr. 11), Mount St. Mary's host Canisius on the first leg of the school's Women In Sports Day event at Under Armour Stadium in Baltimore. Game time is noon.
