MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mount is coming off a tough 3-1 extra-inning loss to Sacred Heart on Sunday.  Leading 1-0 with two outs in the top of the seventh, the Pioneers hit an RBI double to even the score and then a two-run homer in the top of the eighth to secure the win.  The Mount dropped two of three games in the series to fall to 15-25 overall and 10-9 in the MAAC.  Avery Dinges leads the Mount with a .393 average, 32 runs scored, 13 doubles and 37 stolen bases while Gina Del Giorno is hitting .364 with 19 runs scored and 12 steals.  The trio of Emmaleigh Zagrodnicheck (3-7, 3.10 ERA), Ellie Meier (6-4, 3.34 ERA) and Sophia Schmehl (4-6, 3.71 ERA) past the pitching staff.

ABOUT THE SAINTS:  Siena is 22-13 overall and 13-6 in the MAAC entering Tuesday's twinbill.  The Saints lost two of three games to Fairfield this past weekend, earning a 3-0 shutout in the opening game of the series before being swept in a doubleheader on Saturday (2-0, 2-1 in 11 innings).  The tandem of Grace Goewey (12-7, 2.28 ERA, 122 K's, 126.0 IP) and Violet Marta (10-6, 2.79 ERA, 98.0 IP) lead the pitching staff.  Goewey also lead the team with a .375 average while adding five home runs and 19 RBI.  Emma Petersen is hitting .362 with a team-high nine home runs and 33 RBI.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES:  Siena holds a 6-3 lead in the all-time series that began in 2012.  The Mountaineers are 3-5 in MAAC regular season matchups with the Saints since joining the league for the 2022-23 season.  Siena took two of three at the Mount last year, dropping the opening game, 2-1, before winning 8-3 and 4-2 in the final two games of the series.  In a scheduling quirk, this will be the first-ever meeting between the Mount and Siena in Loudonville.  The teams have played at the Mount in each of the past three seasons.

WHERE WE STAND:  The Mount is currently in eighth place in the MAAC standings with two weeks left in the regular season.  The top six teams earn a spot in the MAAC Championships, which will be hosted by the top seed.  The standings are tight as the Mount is just one game behind fourth-place Iona in the loss column.  Iona is fourth at 12-8, Quinnipiac fifth at 13-9, Rider sixth at 12-9, Sacred Heart seventh at 12-10 and the Mount eighth at 10-9.
