EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 17, 2026) – With a postseason berth already clinched, Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse looks to reverse a two-game slide in the regular season finale at Niagara.
A victory over the Purple Eagles would guarantee a home game in the first round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, whereas a defeat would require help from other league results to get the home game.
MOUNT UPDATE
- Playing at Under Armour Stadium in Baltimore last Saturday, the Mountaineers fell 14-11 to Canisius. The defeat undermined a ferocious comeback from down 8-2 that riveted the team's largest crowd of the season.
- Brooke Molchanoff stands 10 goals shy of the single season record at 55 goals. Saturday's game and the postseason will both count towards the total. Within the confines of the MAAC, Molchanoff is leading the conference in goals per game (3.67) and points per game (4.93).
- MK Allingham and Molchanoff remain top 10 in the league for assists per game. Allingham ranks fifth at 1.67 per game.
- Hailey Chester is fourth in caused turnovers (1.73) per game, seventh for ground balls per game (2.27) and seventh for draw controls per game (3.67).
- Shannon McTavish is fourth for draw controls per game (5.27).
- Camille Thomas ranks fourth for goals against average (10.13) and saves percentage (.450).
SCOUTING NIAGARA
- It has been a wild ride for the Purple Eagles, who have earned their 7-0 record by a margin of three goals per win. Four of the seven games have come by a single goal, and two games have gone into overtime.
- The offense is still a threatening one with 149 goals. Michaela Delles is the leading scorer with 35 goals and 12 assists.
- Sydney Huhtala dominates on defense with 50 caused turnovers and 46 ground balls. When opponents get by Huhtala and company, Haley Terry has stopped 128 shots on the year.
ALL-TIME SERIES
- In addition to the home game guarantee, the Mount is looking to reverse a three-game losing streak to Niagara. The Purple Eagles are 5-4 all-time in the series and 3-1 over the Mount in MAAC play.
