EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 18, 2026) – Going to a tough opponent with huge playoff implications, Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse delivered a statement win over Niagara, 13-4.
As a result, the Mount clinches a home playoff game as the No. 4 seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship on Sunday, April 26.
Defense was key to the win as the Mount limited the Purple Eagles to one goal each quarter.
Shannon McTavish and
Logan Cook finished with three caused turnovers each.
Camille Thomas impressed with 16 saves, stopping 80 percent of shots on goal.
HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
- Early goals by McTavish and Ava Kraszewski started the Mount on the right track with a 2-0 lead.
- The team then outscored Niagara 3-1 to go into half up 5-2.
- Leading goal scorer Brooke Molchanoff put the game the rest with a hat trick in quick succession, bringing about an 8-3 score in the early going of the fourth quarter.
- Mount St. Mary's put up six goals in the final frame to cement the dominant win.
