EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 21, 2026) – Kicking off the outdoor track & field season, Mount St. Mary's earned strong finishes at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. With 47 points, the men's team earned eighth place out of 31 teams, while the women finished 11
th of 31 with 31.33 points.
Pole vaulters and javelin throwers had the biggest impact on team scores.
Ethan Demeter won the men's pole vault collegiate bracket with a mark of 5.11 meters, which is good for third on the Mount's all-time list.
Tyler Cash finished right behind him in second, earning 4.86 meters, good for eighth all-time.
Jada Creager won the women's pole vault open at 3.35 meters.
On the javelin side,
Rebecca Weir was the runner-up in the women's collegiate at 44.44 meters. That mark is also good for third all-time in program history. The men's side was led by
Thomas Lloyd, finishing fourth at 64.68 meters, and ranking fourth in program history.
Lorelai Paxton increased her personal record distance to 41.37 meters, rising to fifth all-time.
The women's 4x200 team (
Alena Murray,
Alexe Gauthier,
Sara Taylor,
Raeanne Jones) took third in 1:41.91, measuring third all-time on the program list.
Marta Gonzalez Alvarez and
Garrett Wilkerson also earned top 10 marks in the record books. Gonzalez Alvarez now stands fourth among Mountaineers for the discus with a throw of 42.08 meters. She finished in sixth place at the Shamrock. Wilkerson's fourth-place finish in the 400m was in 47.63 seconds, good for eighth on the Mount all-time list.
MORE MOUNT HIGHLIGHTS
- Donovan Harrington came in fourth place for the long jump with a mark of 7.01 meters.
- In the collegiate long jump, Camryn Jones-Howard placed sixth, leaping to 5.77 meters.
- Nuria Escudero Jimenez scored points by coming in sixth at the 3000m with 10:31.80.
- Tierney McCarroll etched her name onto the javelin scoreboard, finishing seventh with a mark of 39.35 meters.
- Jacey Hentz finished eighth in the collegiate pole vault, earning 3.50 meters.
- Three relay teams scored points for the Mountaineers. The men's 4x200 relay team took second (Wilkerson, Kalani Pu'uloa, Joshua Dean, Lucas Koon-Perez) in 1:26.64, the aforementioned 4x200 women's team took third, and the men's 4x400 team (Kidus Chanyalew, Gavin Gallo, Shane Pankey, Abraham Eason) finished seventh in 3:21.18.

On March 27, members of the team head to the Towson Invitational. The following day (Mar. 28), more Mountaineers are set to compete in the Navy Outdoor Invitational.
