Women’s Soccer Gears Up for MAAC Play, Take on Merrimack

EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 5, 2025) – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play begins for Mount St. Mary's women's soccer as they take on Merrimack in Massachusetts Saturday.  
 
MOUNT UPDATE
 
The Mountaineers come into conference action with two straight wins under their belt, defeating Shepherd and Delaware State at home. Last Sunday against the Hornets, Josie Stockett hit home two goals and Cassidy Nichols added a goal and a pair of assists in the 4-2 victory. Nichols went on to receive MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after registering six points across the two matches. The junior leads the team with three goals scored.  
 
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
 
Merrimack stands at 1-3-2 on the season, earning a win over UMass Lowell on August 17 and draws against Vermont and Bryant. Seven different Warriors have scored this season, led by two from Kylie Fuller. Five members of them assist have recorded an assist. Kaitlyn Brewi has by far the highest number of saves with 54.
 
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
 
With four previous meetings, Merrimack holds a 3-1 series advantage. The Mount won the inaugural match 2-1 in 2019 while the Warriors captured each match since, including a 3-1 score last year in Emmitsburg.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
 
Mount St. Mary's returns home to face Saint Peter's next Saturday (Sept. 13). Kickoff is at noon.
