EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 27, 2025) – Junior
Madelyn Valpy now has the school record for the triple jump in both seasons, breaking the outdoor record last Saturday at the Charlotte Invitational. The achievement highlights efforts by Mount St. Mary's at three meets over the course of the weekend.
Valpy reached a height of 12.25 meters on her second jump in Charlotte. The mark eclipses a 24-year-old record set by Fatima Abbas in April 2001 in Emmitsburg. Abbas earned a height of 12.08 meters. Valpy – who finished third at a competitive meet this past weekend – began setting school records during her sophomore indoor season. The distance also ranks first in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Several other Mountaineers earned top five conference performances across the meets.
Keighan DeCoff is also top in the MAAC for her distance of 42.96 meters at Saint Francis University's Red Flash Invite. The duo of Sunehi Huegun and
Samuel Serrano now rank third and fourth for the 800 meters, running respective times of 1:53.10 and 1:53.95.
Donovan Harrington won the high jump at SFU, and his 1.96 meters rank fourth in the league.
Zaria Wilson is fifth for the conference in the 400 meters, earning a winning time of 57.23 seconds.
The relay team of
Torian Neblett, Lucas Koon Perez,
Daniel Reader, and Kalani Pu'uola now rank fourth in the MAAC for the 4x100, winning the race at 41.79 seconds.
