EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 23, 2025) – Two school records were clinched, leading the way to a strong showing for Mount St. Mary's at the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships. For team scores, the men took third with 99.25 points and the women captured fourth with 84.5 points.
Arran Fahey now has the Mount's top mark for the men's pole vault. The senior reached a new height of 5.16 meters to win the event at the championships, where it also stands as a MAAC record. The mark bests the previous high of 5.15 meters, set by Carter Nave at the 2020 IC4A Championships.
Madelyn Valpy upped a record she has already reset twice this season, impressing again with a 12.35 meter women's triple jump. Her prior best came earlier this month at 12.10 meters. She too won the event at the championship.
Joining the Fahey/Valpy duo as an individual winner was
Caleb Nelson, attaining a men's triple jump mark of 14.43 meters. The group joins Mount junior
Emelie Beckman as victors for the meet. For her efforts in setting a new MAAC and Mount St. Mary's record on Saturday for the women's pole vault, Beckman earned Women's Field Most Valuable Performer honors.
Several more Mountaineers reached the podium on Sunday.
Jovana Miloradovic finished second in the triple jump right after Valpy with an 11.82 meter effort.
Tyler Cash was next to Fahey on the pole vault podium with a 4.38 meter conversion.
Further runner-up finishes came from
Will Stephenson in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.19 seconds,
Julia Kirschnick with an 8.83 second 60 meter hurdles and
Maeve Parrish in the 800m (2:13.90).
Bah Abdoulaye took a place of third place nods for a 6.86 second 60 meter dash and a 21.50 second 200 meter dash. The men's 4x400 relay unit of Abdoulaye,
Daniel Reader,
Abdulazeez Iyiola, and
Gunnar Williams also took third with a time of 3:17.46.
Many of these results, along with others in the field, are good for spots on the Mount's all-time top 10 list.
Indoor track & field's postseason continues with the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston in early March.
