EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 21, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's track & field enters the postseason phase of the indoor season, traveling to the Armory in New York City for the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships.

MOUNT UPDATE: Madelyn Valpy headlined efforts at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, hosted by Liberty University. Resetting her own record in the triple jump at 12.10 meters, she earned her second MAAC weekly honor of the winter campaign. Julia Kirschnick set a pair of top five MAAC marks between the pole vault and 60 hurdles, and Daniel Reader set one for the 200 meters. Both 4x400 relay teams were successful, and Rebecca Weir and Caleb Nelson accrued top 10 finishes.

MOUNTAINEERS IN THE MAAC: A total of 48 marks by Mount St. Mary's student-athletes rank among the top 10 for MAAC competitors. Several of them top the conference list, including Bah Abdoulaye (200m), Arran Fahey (pole vault), Donovan Harrington (long jump), Nelson (triple jump), and Valpy (triple jump). Of the 48 marks, about half rank in the top five.

2024 INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Both squads finished in third place during last season's running of the championship. Emelie Beckman set a MAAC Championship record with a 3.90 meter pole vault, matching the record set by her coach, Rachel Finn. Valpy also took solo record for the triple jump after initially sharing the top spot with teammate Simone Smith following 2023 efforts at Navy. Several podium finishes occurred, including wins by Richard Gilchrist and Justin Sluijter.

ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM: On Friday, the MAAC released its All-Academic for both men's and women's indoor track. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. 46 Mountaineers were honored as part of the team, and a full list is at the conclusion of this story.

UP NEXT: The 2025 IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston, Massachusetts takes place the weekend of March 8-9.
