EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 3, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's men's soccer returns to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play Saturday with a road trip to face the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
MOUNT UPDATE
Julian Marcos and the Mount's defense held the Bucknell Bison to a single goal, making several key stops along the way. A penalty kick by
Graham Dougald helped the Mountaineers earn a 1-1 draw. Among Marcos' saves was a kick save out of the splits that earned a spot on ESPN's Top 10 list on Wednesday. Dougald is now tied with
Jack Kehoe for the team lead in goals, each with three.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart has outscored MAAC opponents 6-1 through its first three conference games, starting league play with a 3-0 record. Four different players have scored twice for the Pioneers, including Sam McCann and Ivan Morcillo—both of whom notched their goals in conference action. Goalkeeper Luca Marinelli has started seven of the team's nine matches, recording 20 saves.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Dating back to 1999, Mount St. Mary's and Sacred Heart have faced off 19 times. SHU holds the edge with nine wins, while the Mount has five victories and five matches have ended in draws. Last season, the teams played to a 2-2 tie.
LOOKING AHEAD
Next Saturday (Oct. 11), the men's soccer team returns home to face Manhattan. The 4 p.m. kickoff is the second half of a doubleheader with the women's soccer team.
