EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 26, 2025) – Another challenging opponent awaits Mount St. Mary's men's soccer for their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) home opener, facing the #20 ranked Marist Red Foxes Saturday.
MOUNT UPDATE
Isaiah Garcia scored the game winner as the Mount started MAAC play on the right foot with a 4-3 win over Merrimack last Sunday.
Graham Dougald added two goals off penalties, and
Sherwin Chen posted his first-ever collegiate goal. With nine goals this season, Mount is now tied for eighth in the league with Siena, Canisius, and Merrimack. The team also begins conference play with a win for the third consecutive year.
SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
Marist made their way into the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, earning a #20 ranking this past Monday. In their first MAAC showdown the Red Foxes defeated Quinnipiac 5-2. Kyle Evans scored twice in the victory, becoming the seventh Marist player to post a goal. More impressive than their offense are the six concessions on defense with three shutouts to their credit.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Mount St. Mary's holds the upper hand in the series with a 7-2-1 mark, but most of that success came in the 1990s when the Mount and Marist were members of the Northeast Conference together. Since joining the MAAC, the Red Foxes defeated the Mount 4-1 in 2022, and the two teams earned a 1-1 draw in 2023.
LOOKING AHEAD
Tuesday (Sept. 30) marks the final non-conference battle for the Mountaineers this season as they host #24 Bucknell.
