Annapolis, Md. (January 25, 2025)--Mount St. Mary's men's tennis opened the spring season with a narrow 4-3 loss at Navy on Saturday. The Mount won the doubles point and a pair of singles matches on the day.
In doubles play, the Mount won at No. 1 and No. 2 double sto secure the point.
Akarsh Gaonkar and
Alexi Roy captured a 6-3 win at No 1 doubles with Lucas Evans and
Filippos Zachiotis earning a 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Evans earned a hard-fought 6-2, 6-7 (1-7), 6-2 win at the No. 4 position while
Ryan Wagner won, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at No. 6 singles. Roy was edged in three sets at No. 3 singles, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-2.
The Mount is next in action on Sunday, February 9, at Penn State.
