EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 31, 2024) –
Annie Carey has already made a mark at the 2024 Paralympic Games, setting an event record for the T44 class in the long jump.
Competing across several classifications, Carey's mark of 4.96 meters set a new top mark for the Games while finishing sixth in the combined group.
Clearing all six attempts, Carey hit the 4.96 meter mark on her second try. It came within .02 meters of her world record distance, set last July in Miramar.
The long jump is the first event of three the Mountaineer is set to compete in. Carey's next scheduled event is the 200m T64 Semifinal, set for 4:30 a.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, September 3.
