CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 1, 2024) – Traveling to the Garden State this weekend, Mount St. Mary's looks to collect some hardware at the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The event is hosted by Rider University.
MOUNT UPDATE: In the final meet of the regular season,
Will Stephenson led the way at the Red Flash Invite. The junior ran the 110 meter hurdles in 14.79 seconds, finishing third in the meet with a time ranking him second among MAAC contenders. The 4x100 relay team of
Bah Abdoulaye,
Lucas Koon-Perez,
Joseph Poleate, and
Maximus Zitnay placed second for their efforts, as did
Julia Kirschnick for the triple jump.
MOUNTAINEERS IN THE MAAC: The squad has amassed 63 top 10 times and marks in the MAAC, distributed among dozens of athletes.
Arran Fahey is first in the men's pole vault, earning a distance of 4.95 meters at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton on April 12. Eight members of the team are second place for their respective events.
2023 OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS: A runner-up finish for the men and third place for the women were the results of the 2023 meet, hosted by the Mount at Morgan Track.
Dylan LaNoue paced the men's team and was named Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events. The men's team collected 192 points, 18 short of champion Rider. The women's team earned 125.5, with field events holding the lion's share of the points.
UP NEXT: Additional postseason opportunities include the IC4A/ECAC Championships at George Mason May 11-12, and the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky May 22-25, pending qualifications.
