Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 10, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's fought back from a 3-0 first quarter to keep things interesting against Towson in the 2024 season opener. The Tigers were able to hold off the Mount in the end in a 14-10 final.
 
Mackenzi Furlong had a hat trick with three goals on four shots. Madison Harmening also registered three points with two goals and an assist, along with leading in caused turnovers with three. Anna Salerno joined the duo as a multi-goal scorer. In her first start in net, Ashlyn Watkins totaled nine saves.
 
Milana Zizakovic paced the Tigers with six goals, and Lindsey Marshall added a pair with nine draw controls. Jo Torres collected 10 saves.
 
Falling behind as much as 6-1 in the second, Harmening and Furlong posted goals, and strong defense helped curb the deficit to 6-3 by halftime. The Tigers pushed it back to five in the third quarter, but Furlong paired with Anna McQuay this time to shove the contest back to a three-goal game. Abby Yesko further pressed the issue with a goal at the 14:13 mark of the fourth, but two Towson tallies gave the home side the momentum for the rest of the game.
 
The Mount takes to Delaware for a game next Saturday (Feb. 17) against the Blue Hens.
