Ryan O'Hagan will rejoin Head Coach
Chris Ryan as a member of the Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse staff ahead of the 2024 season.
He has served as a full-time member of the Lakers' coaching staff since 2018, joining Ryan's staff as an assistant coach before moving to the associate role in 2021. This was his second stint with the team after a graduate assistantship from 2014-16. Mercyhurst went 57-14 with 23 conference wins during O'Hagan's full-time stay in Erie, making every NCAA tournament from 2019 to 2023.
In the last two seasons alone, Mercyhurst has coached 16 USILA All-Americans, 17 All-Regional honorees and 24 Great Midwest Athletic Conference All-Conference selections. Within the GMAC, the Lakers also had the Offensive, Defensive, and Specialist Players of the Year for 2023.
During his graduate assistant stay, O'Hagan assisted with the defense and ran the box. In this first tenure the Lakers finished second in NCAA Division II scoring defense for both 2015 and 2016.
Prior coaching experience also includes two seasons at Colby College in Maine, five years with Performax Sports, and two seasons at Iona Preparatory School. With the Colby Mules, he worked with the defense and served as recruiting coordinator, helping the team double its win total from year one to two.
O'Hagan is a 2012 graduate of Canisius College, starting three years for the Golden Griffins and earning All-MAAC First Team honors in his senior season. For his undergraduate career, he posted 80 ground balls and 51 caused turnovers across 42 games, adding an assist in his ultimate year. While at Mercyhurst, he earned a Master's in Organizational Leadership.
Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse begins competing again in February 2024.
