GAME NOTES (MSM) | WATCH | LIVE STATS

EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 15, 2023) – For the first time since they were Northeast Conference opponents, Mount St. Mary's and Quinnipiac meet at Knott Arena in their second contest as Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foes.

MOUNT UPDATE

A 16-2 run to finish the game Saturday gave the Mountaineers a 65-55 win over Saint Peter's. The victory gave the squad its first win streak since December, and a third straight triumph Thursday will match their longest of the season.

Tied with Marist at 6-8 for seventh place in the MAAC standings, the Mount holds the No. 8 seed as of now for March's conference tournament.

Natalie Villaflor led the way in points against the Peacocks with 18. Isabella Hunt had seven points and a game-high 10 boards while scoring the crucial bucket to put the Mountaineers over the top. Michaela Harrison crossed the 1,700-point mark for her career and now stands 27 away from fourth place on the team's all-time scoring list.

RE-EXAMINING THE BOBCATS

Predicted as the preseason favorites in the MAAC, Quinnipiac stands in second place, winning 12 of 15 contests in the league so far. The Bobcats have not faltered since January 14th, when they dropped a game to first place Iona.

Three players post double figures for Quinnipiac, led by Cur'Tiera Haywood at 10.6 a game. The fourth player on that list, Mary Baskerville, demonstrates efficiency by shooting 70.2 percent from the field. If she qualified for the NCAA list, she would rank second best. Returning to the lineup in recent days is Mackenzie DeWees, a 1,000-point scorer who hails from nearby Carroll County.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES

Mount St. Mary's wants to reverse a seven-game losing streak to the Bobcats, going back to 2010. Quinnipiac has taken three-fourths of the games in the all-time series, 21-7. The sides first met in a 1986 tournament hosted by West Chester, when the Mount won by a final of 98-55.

In the meeting earlier this season, the Mount held a third quarter lead but mustered six points in the final quarter and a half in a 64-52 loss.

LOOKING AHEAD

Mount remains home to take on Iona Saturday (Feb. 18). Tip-off is 1 p.m. from Knott Arena.
