EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 30, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball earned a third place prediction in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Poll. Redshirt sophomore
Gabrielle Kennerly was granted a spot on the All-MAAC Preseason Team with a Second Team nod.
Kennerly excelled in her first season playing college ball, earning a MAAC All-Rookie selection. She stood second behind Quinnipiac's Gal Rviv for points with 316 and points per game at 10.9 among first-year MAAC players. She would also add 88 rebounds, 55 steals, and 48 assists. In a game at Siena March 2, Kennerly totaled nine steal – the highest individual game total for any Mountaineer since 2012.
Defending champion Fairfield (169) received a unanimous first place vote to lead the poll, followed by last year's runner-up Quinnipiac (155). After Mount's third place finish with 132 points, Marist is in fourth (128), followed by Siena (103), Iona (100), Manhattan (95), Merrimack (76), Canisius (69), Saint Peter's (51), Niagara (48), Sacred Heart (43), and Rider (14).
The MAAC Basketball Tip-Off show will air on ESPN+ on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Mount's portion of the interviews will be from 11:13-11:21 am. The link is at the top of the story.
Mount St. Mary's went 15-16 in 2024-25 with a 12-8 MAAC record and a tournament semifinal appearance after finishing in fourth place for the season. This year, the team opens at Richmond on November 4 and will host Morgan State for their home opener November 15.
