EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 14, 2025) – For the first time since joining the league in 2022, Mount St. Mary's women's basketball has a spot in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Semifinals. To get to the title game, they will have to pull off the upset of defending champion Fairfield.
MOUNT UPDATE
- The Mountaineers won the MAAC Quarterfinals, defeating the Marist Red Foxes 68-65. Building a lead as high as 27 points, the team then held on as Marist mounted a comeback before the would-be go-ahead bucket clanked off the iron.
- Jo Raflo led all Mount scorers with 18 points and was one of four members of the team with double figures (Anna LeMaster, Gabrielle Kennerly, Jaedyn Jamison). Jamison added 11 rebounds to record her first career double-double.
- LeMaster needs six three-pointers to break the single season record set by Michaela Harrison back in 2019. The graduate student has 79 for the season.
- The team hit 12 three-pointers in the game, tied for the fourth most this season. The season high is 16 in the game against Saint Peter's on February 1.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
- Fairfield rolled the MAAC schedule until the regular season finale, when they fell to Quinnipiac. In the conference tournament, the Stags overcame a tough challenge from Manhattan, winning 58-51.
- First Team All-MAAC Meghan Andersen, Second Team selection Kaety L'Amoreaux, and Third Team selection Emina Selimovic lead the scoring for the Stags. Andersen has the highest average and the most three-pointers. L'Amoreaux also has the highest average rebound total.
- Sixth Woman of the Year Raiana Brown comes off the bench to provide efficient scoring, as does Cyanne Coe. The duo have converted over 60 percent of their shots.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Fairfield has won 10 out of the 11 meetings between them and Mount St. Mary's, including both games this season. The Mount's lone win came in non-conference action back in 2008.
