ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (March 14, 2025)—Down 11 points entering the fourth quarter, Mount St. Mary's women's basketball made a comeback attempt that saw
Anna LeMaster hit a go-ahead three pointer with seconds left. Fairfield was able to counter and thwart Mount's hopes for a MAAC Championship game berth in a 49-48 final score.
Madison Ruff was also instrumental in the rally, beginning the comeback attempt at the six minute mark. After hitting a pull-up jumper, the freshman stole an errant pass for a breakaway layup. LeMaster followed suit to cut the game to six points, 44-36. After a free throw made by the Stags, the Mount continued to get stops while
Jo Raflo delivered a triple and Ruff contributed a driving layup to put the contest at 44-42 Stags.
More strong defensive efforts kept the Mountaineers in the game. With 30 ticks remaining,
Giana Hoddinott found LeMaster on the wing for an open look, and the graduate student came through. But on the next trip down the court, Fairfield found the basket they had been seeking, coming off a reverse layup from Kaety L'Amoreaux. The Stags sophomore would further seal the game on defense with a steal, and Fairfield free throws closed out the game.
Hoddinott registered a career high in points with 14 for the contest. Raflo would post double figures at 10, while also leading the Mountaineers in rebounds with eight. Ruff finished the game with nine points and five steals.
Mount St. Mary's finishes the season at 15-16.
