Klil Keshwar has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season. Keshwar posted a shutout in the Mount's 1-0 victory over Rider on the final day of the regular season, helping the Mount clinch both a playoff berth and home game in the MAAC Championships.
Keshwar turned aside four shots in the victory over Rider. The graduate transfer from St. Francis Brooklyn, is in the midst of a record-breaking season for the Mountaineers in goal. She has broken the school record for shutouts in a season with seven, tallying a 0.79 goals against average and a .864 save percentage while playing in 16 games with 15 starts. Keshwar's 0.79 goals against average will set the Mount's single-season record as well. In MAAC regular season games, she posted a league-best 0.44 goals against average and .095 save percentage, tallying 38 saves over nine games. Her play has been a key factor to the Mount's 5-2-1 record over the past eight games, allowing just two goals over that span (0.24 GAA, .944 save percentage) with six clean sheets. She was named Third Team All-MAAC earlier today.
The Mountaineers are coming off a thrilling win over Niagara in the MAAC Championships First Round yesterday, advancing 3-1 on penalty kicks after the two teams battled to a scoreless tie through regulation and two overtime periods. The Mount is 7-8-3 on the year, the most wins by a Mountaineer squad since 2012. The Mount travels to second-seeded Fairfield for a Thursday night matchup in the MAAC semifinals. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
