EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 11, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's soccer goalkeeper
Abigail Makela registered eight saves, but the offense was shutout by the Iona Gaels in a 1-0 defeat.
Makela tracked down five shots in the first half and three in the second half. The redshirt freshman now has 71 saves for the year.
On offense, the Mountaineers fired 13 shots which included five on goal.
Taylor Simmons took the most chances with three.

Lillian Young, and Cassidy Nicholls also recorded shots on goal.
Iona's score came in the first half on a 39
th minute shot by Dolene Smith. Zaheira Hegazi added an assist.
With the result, the Mount is now 3-10-1 and 1-7-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
This Wednesday (Oct. 15), the Mount travels to face Canisius in Buffalo.
