EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 30, 2022) – Senior
Molly Connelly, for the second time, and graduate student
John Wang, for the third time, led the field of Mount St. Mary's cross country runners. The group battled in the annually massive field that is Lehigh's Paul Short Run.
Connelly ran the Women's Brown 6K in 21:56.1, coming in 32
nd place in a field of almost 400 runners. Among the remainder of the team,
Ellie Dorian (24:59.5),
Mary Campbell (25:18.2),
Erin Billigmeier (25:22.4) and
Maeve Parrish (25:30.6) assisted on the team score.
Wang's time of 25:11.6 in the Men's Brown 8K to finish 80
th in a group of 403 competitors. The speed increased 14 seconds from his effort at the Siena Invitational two weeks earlier.
Paul Fagnano was second in the group, running a 25:22.9 to finish 104
th.
Michael Chipi (25:44.1),
Brendan Duff (26:28.5) and
Kevin Zaleski (26:46.5) contributed to the team score.
The Mount's men's team finished 32
nd while the women came in 45
th. Carnegie Mellon won the men's event and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took the women's race. Measuring up with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference teams, the men ended ahead of Quinnipiac and Fairfield.
