Women's Lacrosse Faces off against George Mason in a Midweek Matchup

MOUNT UPDATE
On Wednesday, the Mountaineers hit the road looking for their first-ever win against George Mason. The Mount is coming off an 11-6 win against High Point after Beanie Colson scored five goals. The Mountaineers defeated Binghamton 13-7, while Zoe Hurlburt had three goals, two assists, five ground balls, and four draw controls. The Mount is 1-1 on this home stand after losing to Navy in the first game when Erin Anderson had four goals, while Hurlburt and Alayna Pagnotta added three goals each. For the second time this season, Lindsey Tolliver was named NEC Rookie of the Week after she tallied five assists and two goals in two games. The Mount had a 10-9 triple-overtime loss to La Salle after Dani Donoghue scored four goals in the loss. The Mountaineers defeated the UMBC Retrievers 10-9 after Hurlburt scored the game-winner with 46 seconds remaining. Jordan Groover added a hat trick and an assist, while Madison Bradley made a career-high 12 saves. The Mount kicked off the season with their first-ever win against Towson, 14-11. The Mountaineers were led by Pagnotta, who had four goals and two assists and was named NEC Player of the Week. She is sixth all-time in goals in Mount history with 117 goals. The Mount got key contributions from Donoghue, who scored a career-high four goals, and Tolliver, who tallied three assists and one goal.
 
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
The Patriots come into this matchup with a 1-4 record. George Mason started the year with a 14-11 loss to Oregon. The Patriots followed up with a 14-8 loss to Navy; Olivia O'Brien scored four goals in the loss. George Mason welcomed American and lost on a last-second goal after coming back from an 8-1 deficit. The next game was a 16-10 loss to East Carolina in Fairfax. George Mason's most recent game was an 18-5 victory against Howard last Wednesday. Ioanna Mantzouratos led the Patriots with two goals and four assists, while Phoebe Nelson added four goals. Shannon Tuozzo leads George Mason in points with 17, O'Brien leads the team in goals with 12, and Mantzouratos leads in assists with seven. The Patriots were picked to finish in ninth place in the A-10 Preseason Poll ahead of Saint Bonaventure.

The most recent matchup was in 2020 when the Patriots defeated the Mountaineers 14-10 behind Deanna Balsama's five goals. They met in Fairfax in 2016 when George Mason came away victorious 15-4.
