Men's Tennis Downed by Penn State

University Park, Pa. (March 27, 2022)--Mount St. Mary's lost at Penn State, 7-0, in a non-conference men's tennis matchup on Sunday night. The Mount's No. 3 doubles team of Marcel Cronin and Filippos Zachiotis earned a win to highlight the Mount's performances.

The Mount (3-6) just missed on starting the match by winning the doubles point. Penn State's Janes Harrison and Ondrej Ctverak downed the Mount's Russell Armstrong and Christos Dagklis, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles, but the Mount answered when Cronin and Zachiotis produced a 6-4 win over Arjun Mariyappa and Andrei Paduraru at the No. 3 spot. The deciding match came at No. 1 doubles with the Mount's tandem of Giovanni Abriola and Elliot Stevens losing to Charl Morgan and Miko Eala in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-3).

In singles play, Abriola lost to Ismail Saadi, 4-6, 6-4, 10-4. Penn State won in straight sets in the other singles matches to secure the victory.

The Mountaineers return to action on Wednesday at George Mason.
