Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 17, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse continues their winning streak as they beat Wagner 15-9.
Kate Kinsella led the Mountaineers with six goals, while
Jordan Butler added four assists and one goal. The Mount has now won 11 games in a row and sits in first place in the NEC two games ahead of LIU. The Mountaineers outshot the Seahawks 30-26 with a 23-17 advantage in shots on goal.
The Seahawks were led by Casey Dorney and Erin Kerstetter who each had three-goal contributions.
The Mount's
Jenna Oler made eight saves, while Wagner's Lauren DiStefano made eight saves.
Zoe Hurlburt scored the game's first goal 15 seconds in to give the Mount an early 1-0 lead. Wagner then went on a 3-0 run to get their biggest lead of the day at 3-1. The Mount then responded with a 5-0 run that lasted 17 minutes. The run started with a
Jordan Groover goal after she beat her defender and fired a shot past the goalie.
Christina Haspert, Groover, Butler, and Kinsella each added a goal to give the Mount a 6-3 lead with 6:12 remaining in the first half. Wagner ended the first half with another 3-0 run to tie the game at six apiece going into halftime.
Wagner retook the lead to start the second half, but the Mount pulled away from the Seahawks after another 5-0 run for the Mountaineers. The Mount started the run after Butler found a cutting
Alayna Pagnotta who fired in the back of the net.
Erin Anderson and Kinsella each added goal to give the Mount a 9-7 lead. Pagnotta and Butler did the same thing with the same result two more times to make the score 11-7 in favor of the Mount. Wagner and the Mount exchanged goals to keep the lead at four. Wagner scored their final goal with 11:13 remaining to reduce the lead to 12-9. Kinsella ended the game with another hat trick to secure the victory for the Mountaineers.
