Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 14, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse clinches an NEC playoff berth after beating Bryant 17-11.
Sara Moeller led the offensive charge for the Mountaineers scoring five goals and tallying three assists.
Erin Anderson,
Alayna Pagnotta, and
Kate Kinsella each scored hat tricks for the Mountaineers. Bryant outshot the Mount 38-33 and had more shots on goals, 25-20, compared to the Mountaineers.
The Bulldogs were led by Caitlin Bolden who scored five goals and Cassidy Burns who had five assists.
Jenna Oler and
Madison Bradley combined for 14 saves, while Bryant's Sam Ciancio and Giana Kapoosuzian combined for three saves.
Jordan Butler kicked off the game with her only goal of the game in the first minute and a half to give the Mount a 1-0. Bryant tied the game up with Bolen's first goal of the game, but
Jordan Groover responded 36 seconds later with her only goal of the game to make it 2-1. Anderson makes it 3-1 after Moeller found her cutting to the middle and Anderson, put it past the goalie. Bryant and the Mount traded goals to keep the lead at two. Anderson and Moeller scored 14 seconds apart to give the Mount a 6-2 lead midway through the first quarter.
Bryant scored two quick goals to cut the lead to two, but Anderson completed her hat trick to make it 7-4 in favor of the Mountaineers. Bryant and the Mount exchanged goals 16 apart to keep the lead at three until Bolen scored another two quick goals to reduce the lead to 8-7. Moeller found the back of the net to make it 9-7 with 7:39 remaining. Bryant closed out the first half with a late goal to make it 9-8 going into halftime.
The Mount came out of the locker room with a great defensive plan allowing only three goals in the second half. The Mountaineers went on a 4-0 run to extend the lead to five with Moeller scoring two goals. Bryant scored their first goal of the half with 11:18 remaining in the second half. Pagnotta and
Beanie Colson each scored a goal to put the score at 15-9 in favor of the Mountaineers. Bryant scored to make it 15-10, but Moeller scored her fifth goal to keep the lead at six. Bryant and the Mount traded late goals to reach the final score of 17-11.
The Mount hosts Wagner on Saturday, April 17th at Waldron Family Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
