Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 20, 2021) – Mount Saint Mary's women's lacrosse continues their winning streak after cruising against Sacred Heart 18-7. Sara Moeller led the team with five goals and tallied an assist, while Jordan Butler had four goals and two assists to lead the Mountaineers to their fourth consecutive victory. Alayna Pagnotta contributed four goals and an assist and Beanie Colson registered one goal, one assist, and 10 draw controls.
Lydia Werlau led the Pioneers with three goals and Kirsten Barnes had two goals and one assist.
The Mount's Jenna Oler made four saves and Madison Bradley made two saves in net for the Mountianeers, while Bella Beaton made 13 saves for Sacred Heart.
Moeller kicked off the game with a goal to give the Mountaineers an early 1-0 lead. Barnes responded with a goal 30 seconds later to tie it up at one. Butler scored her first goal of the day to give the Mount a 2-1 lead, then Moeller scored her second goal of the day to extend the lead to two. Werlau got her first goal to keep the lead at one. The Mount and Sacred Heart traded goals twice to make it 5-4 halfway through the first half.
The Mount then went on a 5-0 run to end the first half. Sara Moeller kicked off the run with a man advantage goal to extend the lead to two. Butler got her second after she beat her defender one on one and beat the keeper low. Pagnotta scored her second goal to make it 8-4 for the Mountaineers. Kate Kinsella and Jordan Groover each scored a goal late in the first half to give the Mount a 10-4 lead at half.
Sacred Heart started off the second half with a goal to cut the lead to five, but the Mountaineers responded with a 4-0 run with two goals from Pagnotta and goals also coming from Moeller and Zeigenfuse to put the score at 14-5 for the Mountianeers. The Mount and Sacred Heart exchanged goals gain to keep the lead at nine. Moeller scored her fifth goal of the day to make it 16-6, then Butler scored two goals late in the second half to give the Mount their biggest lead of the day at 12. Sacred Heart scored the final goal of the game with 29 seconds left to make the final score 18-7.
The Mount continues their three game road trip with a visit to Staten Island to play the Wagner Seahawks on Wednesday, March 24th at 3:00 p.m.
