Balanced Attack Powers Women’s Lacrosse to 18-9 Victory over the Red Flash

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 10, 2021) – Mount Saint Mary's women's lacrosse had five players score hat tricks today as they cruise past Saint Francis University 18-9 today. Seven Mountaineers had multiple points today, including Sara Moeller with seven total points (3g, 4a) and Kate Kinsella with six total points (3g, 3a). Alayna Pagnotta, Erin Anderson, Beanie Colson, and Jordan Butler each scored multiple goals to contribute to the first conference win of the season for the Mount.

Mount's Jenna Oler made five saves and Madison Bradley made three as well, while Saint Francis's Elyssa Enrique made 11 saves. Saint Francis's Emileigh Scott had two goals and an assist to lead them.

Anderson started off the game with a shot that found the upper right corner to give the Mount an early lead. Saint Francis responded with two goals that were 16 seconds apart to give them a 2-1 lead. Moeller and Pagnotta scored their first goals of the game to regain the lead for the Mountaineers.

Saint Francis and the Mount traded goals to keep the lead at one, but the Red Flash scored to tie the game back up. Both teams were held scoreless for about nine minutes until the 2:58 mark when Jordan Groover beat two defenders to score her first goal of the day. The Mount closed out the first half with a goal from Kinsella and Anderson to take a 7-4 lead into half.

Saint Francis scored in the first two minutes to reduce the lead to two, but the Mountaineers responded with a 6-0 run that lasted about eight minutes. Pagnotta started the run with an extra man goal followed by a Butler goal. Kinsella got her second goal of the goal after slicing through two defenders and beating the goal keeper to extend the lead to five. Moeller scored two goals to make it 12-5. Butler ended the run with another man advantage goal for the Mount to make it 13-5.

The Mount and Saint Francis traded goals to keep the lead at eight, until Saint Francis scored two goals to cut the deficit to six. The Mount went a 4-0 run to put the game out of reach that was started by Colson. Colson scored again with Anderson and Pagnotta contributing a goal apiece to give the Mountaineers an 18-8 lead. Saint Francis scored a late goal to put the final score at 18-9.

The Mountaineers come home to host Merrimack at Waldron Family Stadium on Saturday, March 13th at 1:00 p.m.
