Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 13, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's fell to Towson 10-7 in the season opener on Saturday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium.
Jordan Groover and
Sara Moeller both scored two goals apiece, while
Jordan Butler,
Alayna Pagnotta, and
Erin Anderson each found the back of the net as well for the Mountaineers.
Lindsay Marshall had a game-high three goals, while Blair Pearre scored two goals to help Towson to the victory.
Jenna Oler posted a 13-save performance for the Mount, while Carly Melo made seven saves to secure the win for Towson.
Towson started off the game with a goal by Shelby Stack in the first minute. The Mount responded with two goals, one from
Sara Moeller and the second one from
Erin Anderson to take the lead.
Towson scored three straight goals by three different players to take a 4-2 lead, but the Mount responded with goals from
Alayna Pagnotta and
Jordan Groover to tie it up at 4-4 going into half time.
Towson netted two quick goals from Marshall to begin the second half. Towson found the back of net again to make it 7-4. The Mount started a comeback bid by scoring two quick goals from Groover and Butler to make it 7-6.
Towson responded by scoring two goals late in the second half to push the lead to three, but the Mountaineers made it a two-goal game with a goal from Moeller to make it 9-7. Marshall scored her third goal of the game to ice the win for Towson.
