Lebanon, Pa. (October 22, 2021)--The Mount St. Mary's women's cross country team closed the 2021 regular season by winning the LVC Last Chance Run Fast Invitational hosted by Lebanon Valley College at Union Canal Tunnel Park on Friday.Â
Michelle Weaver finished in second place to pace the Mountaineers in the victory. The Mountaineer men's team finished in fourth place.
In the women's race, the Mount captured first place honors with 41 points, followed by King's (Pa.) (63), Drew (84), York (Pa.) (92), Lebanon Valley (121), Immaculata (134), Hollins (181), Wilkes (198), Lancaster Bible (218) and PSU-Berks (243).
Weaver finished second overall in the field of 74 runners in a time of 24:04.5 for the six-kilometer course.Â
Molly Connelly was sixth overall (24:44.1) while
Emily Klotz (9th, 25:41.4),
Erin Billigmeier (13th, 26:26.2) and
Alexandra Ramirez (21st, 27:13.8) rounded out the Mount's top five.
In the men's race, DeSales took home first place with 45 points, followed by York (Pa.) (46), Lebanon Valley (77), the Mount (120), King's (Pa.) (138), PSU-Berks (149), Lancaster Bible (156) and Immaculata (188).
Brendan Duff was the Mount's top finisher, placing sixth overall with a time of 28:02.2 for the eight-kilometer route.Â
Brandon Nichols was 19th overall in a time of 29:08.6 with
Peyton Howard (34th, 29:53.6),
Elliott Lynn Jr. (42nd, 30:32.1) and
Adam Stetser (55th, 31:44.0) rounding out the top five.
The Mountaineers will compete at the 2021 Northeast Conference Championships on Saturday, October 30, at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn.
