Gettysburg, Pa. (October 16, 2021)—John Wang finished first overall to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's cross country team to the team title at the Gettysburg College Aubrey Shenk Invitational on Saturday. The Mountaineers had three of the top eight runners in the race. On the women's side,
Lesha Kay finished sixth overall to help the Mount to a sixth-place finish.
Wang posted a time of 25:50.1 for the eight kilometer course, finishing 11 seconds ahead of the second-place runner.Â
Paul Fagnano finished in fifth overall with a time of 26:37.8 while
Andrew Jackson was the Mount's third runner in the top eight by posting a time of 26:53.0 to place eighth.Â
John Ruona (15
th, 27:17.8) and
Michael Chipi (19
th, 27"50.5) rounded out the Mount's top five.
The Mount took home first place with 45 points, followed by Messiah (65), Elizabethtown (76), Saint Francis U (94), Gettysburg (110), DeSales (167), Susquehanna (200), Goldey-Beacom (215), Bridgewater (240), Stevenson (318), Morgan State (319), Anne Arundel CC (359), Lycoming (398), Cabrini (421) and Clarks Summit (422).
Lesha Kay was sixth overall to pace the Mount women's team, posting a time of 24:14.5 for the six-kilometer course.Â
Mary Campbell was 26
th in a time of 25:05.4 while
Michelle Weaver was 36
th with a time of 25:30.8.Â
Ellie Dorian (50
th, 26:04.9) and
Kalin Baratka (67
th, 26:36.5) rounded out the Mount's top five.
Saint Francis U won the women's race with 27 points, followed by Susquehanna (86), Elizabethtown (116), Messiah (118), Gettysburg (135), Mount St. Mary's (162), Washington & Lee (174), Stevenson (185), Bridgewater (215), Morgan State (288), Juniata (303), Anne Arundel CC (316), Goldey-Beacom (359) and Cabrini (414).
The Mount will have runners at the Lebanon Valley College Last Chance Run Fast Invitational on Friday, October 22, before heading to the 2021 Northeast Conference Championships hosted by Central Connecticut on Saturday, October 30. Â
