Box Score Emmitsburg, Md (Wednesday, March 4th) – Jordan Butler's nine points (5g, 4a) propelled the Mount women's lacrosse (4-1) team to a 18-7 rout of Campbell (1-6) on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Erin Anderson tallied her first career hat trick, registering four goals to help widen the margin over the Lady Camels. Kate Kinsella (2g, 1a), Alayna Pagnotta (3g), Carly Miller (1g, 1a), Zoe Hurlburt (1g, 1a), and Jordan Groover (1g, 1a) all recorded multi-point efforts. Jenna Oler made 11 stops in net before she was taken out by freshman Madison Bradley when the Mountaineers gained a sufficient lead late in the second half. Bradley made her first career save in her first seven minutes of collegiate action.
The Mountaineers got off to a quick start over the Lady Camels as back-to-back goals from Butler gave the Mount a 4-1 lead just ten minutes in. After cutting the Mount lead to two, goals from Pagnotta and Butler (4) had the Mountaineers back in front 7-3. A late score from Anderson would have the Mountaineers up 8-4 heading into the break.
A 5-2 run to open the second half broke this one open as Pagnotta put home two consecutive goals to increase the Mountaineer lead to 13-6. After Campbell made it 14-7, the Mount would tally the final four goals of the contest en route to an 18-7 victory.
Megan Matthews led the Lady Camels with three goals while Sam Carey (2g) and Julianna Sanchez (2g) each had multi-goal games. Alex Salim made six saves in net in the loss.
The Mountaineers had a strong day on draw controls winning 15 to Campbell's 12. Beanie Colson was a menace picking up eight draw controls to lead all players while Abigail Zeigenfuse had six draw controls of her own. Butler, Kaitlyn Ridenour, Sophia Stewart, Hurlburt, and Colson each recorded a caused turnover in the win. The Mount was also productive with their free position shots going 5-for-6. The defense held Campbell 1-for-4 on free position shots.
The Mountaineers will head on the road to take on Lafayette on Saturday, March 7th. Game time for the Mount's matchup with the Leopards is set for 4:00 p.m.
