MOUNT UPDATE
After having a week off from play, the Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team returns to action to take on Campbell on Wednesday at Waldron Family Stadium. In their last time out, the Mountaineers dropped a hard-fought battle to George Mason 14-10. The Mount did everything they could to try and erase a seven-goal deficit but fell just short. Alayna Pagnotta led Mount scorers with four goals while Kate Kinsella (3g), Jordan Butler (2g, 1a), and Carly Miller (2a) each recorded multi-point games. On the defensive end, Jenna Oler made nine saves in net and Sophia Stewart (3CTs), Margaret Lonergan (3CTs), and Kaitlyn Ridenour (2CTs) all had multiple caused turnovers in the loss. Zoe Hurlburt add seven draw controls in the contest to lead all players. The Mountaineers will look for a bounce back win on Wednesday to gain momentum as Northeast Conference play nears.
SCOUTING THE LADY CAMELS
After dropping their first five contests of the 2020 campaign, Campbell finally got one in the win column after defeating George Washington 11-9 this past Sunday. A 7-0 run in the first half helped the Lady Camels hold off the Colonials. Campbell is led by redshirt freshman Julianna Sanchez, who has leads the team in goals with 16. On offense, the Lady Camels have five different players with twelve-plus points on the year. Sam Carey (25) and Sanchez (17) are leading the squad in draw controls. Junior goalkeeper Alex Salim has posted 13.17 goals against average and made 80 saves in her six starts.
INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the second all-time meeting between the two schools. The Mountaineers came out victorious in the only matchup, which took place on March 23rd of last year where the Mount won 18-7 over the Lady Camels. After being tied with Campbell at the break, the Mountaineers used a 13-2 second half to head back to Emmitsburg with a win. Seven different players tallied multi-point efforts in the victory.
