Box Score Vestal, N.Y. (Saturday, February 22nd) – Erin Anderson's fourth career collegiate goal was the difference as Mount women's lacrosse (3-0) took down Binghamton 9-8 in overtime on Saturday. Jordan Butler (2g, 2a), Kate Kinsella (2g, 1a), and Alayna Pagnotta (2g) each finished with multiple goals to lead the Mountaineers. Jenna Oler made 11 saves in net to secure the victory.
Binghamton jumped out to a 2-1 lead eleven minutes into the game with goals from Alyssa Sanchez and Olivia Batista. Jordan Butler would then spark a 3-0 Mount run topped off by Pagnotta and Carly Miller to give the Mountaineers a 4-2 lead. The Mount eventually find themselves up 4-3 heading into the break.
Three straight Bearcat goals to start the second half had the home team up 6-4 with 22 minutes to play. Kinsella would notch her first of the day to get the Mountaineers back within one. With 11 minutes to play, Jamie Golderman of Binghamton put home her second of the season to give the Bearcats another two-goal lead. As time was dwindling down, Kinsella found the back of the net with five minutes to play to give the Mountaineers a chance to tie. Less than 90 seconds later, Butler would even the game at 8-8 on a free position shot that would eventually send this game to overtime.
In overtime, the Mountaineer defense would come up big to stop the Bearcat's only offensive possession to get the ball to the Mount offense. Off a scramble in front of the net, Erin Anderson was able to put home the game winner to send the Binghamton faithful home with a loss.
Beanie Colson had a strong with a goal and three draw controls while Kate Bieraugel finished with two draw controls and one groundball. The Mount had a solid day on free-position shots going 2-for-3 and forced the Bearcats into 15 turnovers.
The Mount women's lacrosse team will have a quick turnaround as they host George Mason on Wednesday, February 26th.
