INSIDE THE SERIES
The Retrievers currently hold a 16-2 edge over the Mountaineers in the all-time series between these two schools that dates back to April of 1996. Coming into last season, the Mount had only taken down UMBC once before, which happened on April 23rd, 2004 where the Mountaineers prevailed 12-10. Flashing back to last season, Carly Miller's goal with 39 seconds left would lift the Mount to their first win ever at UMBC and first time taking down the Retrievers since 2004. Eight different Mountaineers tallied a point in the win, led by a pair of goals from Miller and Jordan Butler. Jillian Petito made five saves in goal to secure the victory.

On January 30th, the Northeast Conference announced the annual Coaches' Preseason Poll for women's lacrosse in which the Mountaineers was tabbed to finish second, only behind defending NEC champion Wagner.
