A WORD FROM COACH
"I am excited to get the season started," said Head Coach Barrett Elkins. "We have been practicing hard and we have a lot of guys that are ready to prove themselves. It is great to get opportunities to see where we stand against some very good competition."
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team rounded out their strong fall season with five team members qualifying for the ITA Atlantic Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Virginia. Gabriel Santos, Jackson Wood, Jean Armstrong, Evan Hine, and Partha Sharma all qualified for the tournament. Jackson Wood advanced to the second round of the singles bracket by defeating James Madison's Josh Raymundo 6-4, 6-4. Wood would eventually fall in the second round to Radford's Dimosthenis Taramonlis. Parth Sharma and Jackson Wood also had a strong showing the double portion of the ITA regionals. Sharma and Wood defeated a Richmond duo 8-3 to propel themselves to the second round. The pairing would eventually lose to the tournament's number five seed Christian Alshon and Matthew Lord of Virginia.
ALL-TIME AGAINST NAVY
The Mount men's tennis team is 0-18 all-time in dual matches against the United States Naval Academy. Flashing back to last season, the Midshipmen dropped the Mountaineers 7-0. Jean Armstrong and Evan Hine were able to secure the lone victory in a doubles match defeating Navy's pairing 6-3.
ALL-TIME AGAINST DUQUESNE
The Dukes currently hold a 4-0 all-time record against the Mountaineers in dual matches that date back to March 1st, 2012. Last year, Duquesne blanked the Mount 4-0, failing to drop a set in each of those four matches.
