Mount Senior Alexa Quintanilla Downed in the Consolation Round of the Oracle ITA Masters

Malibu, Calif. (September 27, 2019)--Mount St. Mary's senior Alexa Quintanilla lost in the consolation round of the 2019 Oracle ITA Masters Tournament held today at Pepperdine University.

Quintanilla faced Iuliia Bryzgalova from the University of Penn in the first round of the consolations, falling by the score of 6-0, 6-1.  Yesterday, Quintanilla was paired with Bryant's Guido Argentini in the first round of the mixed doubles against top-seeded Keegan Smith and Abbey Forbes of UCLA.  The UCLA pair posted a 6-0 victory in the match to move on to the round of 16.  In singles play, Quintanilla lost against top-seeded Natasha Subhash from the University of Virginia by the score of 6-0, 6-1.

ABOUT THE ORACLE ITA MASTERS

  • After its inaugural event in 2015, the Oracle ITA Masters expanded the men's and women's singles draws in 2016 to feature 32-players per gender. Invitations are sent based on conference affiliation, with each conference having the opportunity to send its top returning player.
  • Since its expansion in 2016, the Oracle ITA Masters has also become the only collegiate tennis event to feature mixed doubles, with conference representatives partnering and at-large/wild card participants pairing with each other or with conference representatives without a counterpart.
  • The men's and women's singles champions earn automatic entry into the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which will be held November 6-10 in Newport Beach, California.
