Mount Women's Soccer Edged by Robert Morris, 1-0

Moon Township, Pa. (September 22, 2019)—Mount St. Mary's fell at Robert Morris, 1-0, in Northeast Conference action on Sunday afternoon.  The Colonials scored a first-half penalty kick to earn the victory.

The Colonials (3-5-1, 1-0-0 NEC) took the lead in the first half with a penalty kick goal.  Robert Morris played a ball into the box that bounced high.  Baron challenged Kayla Velos-Lima for the ball and was called for a foul in the box, setting up a penalty kick which Velosa-Lima converted to make it 1-0.

Each team had eight shots in the first half with Robert Morris holding a 4-to-3 edge in shots on goal.  Elizabeth Rockhill had four shots for the Mountaineers in the opening 45 minutes.

In the second half, Robert Morris outshot the Mount, 16-to-4, to close out the win.  The Mount's final scoring chance came in the 84th minute when Hannah Cooksey had a shot from just outside the box, but RMU keeper Sydney Bruckner came up with the save.

Barron made seven saves for the Mount (1-8-0, 0-2-0 NEC) in the loss while Bruckner made four saves for the shutout for Robert Morris.

The Mount returns to action on Sunday, September 29, when defending NEC champion Central Connecticut visits Waldron Family Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. matchup.
