JERSEY CITY, NJ (September 19, 2026) – With the score tied 2-2 in the waning moments of Saturday's match, Mount St. Mary's senior
Erin Antone got her first goal of the season at an opportune time, providing the Mount a 3-2 victory over Saint Peter's.
The triumph is the team's first of the season. In Metro Conference play, the Mountaineers are 1-1-1.
Along with Antone,
Cassidy Nichols and
Payton Meara posted goals. Nichols leads the team with her second of the season. Meara scored the first of the year, and the second of her career.
Fineen Cregan assisted on Meara's goal, which is her first as a Mountaineer. On defense,
Abby Makela provided seven saves to help her team earn the win.
HOW THE MATCH UNFOLDED
- Meara was the first goal scorer, delivering on the cross from Cregan. The goal came in the 15th minute.
- Three minutes later, Nichols scored an unassisted shot for a 2-0 Mount lead.
- Saint Peter's made a near-immediate response on a goal from Elise Viggiano, assisted by Mayla McLean.
- The equalizer for the Peacocks came in the 74th minute, with Bianca Bellino scoring.
- Mount St. Mary's was awarded a penalty in the 78th minute, but the shot from Antone was saved by Bregljot Kristinsdottir.
- Two minutes later, Antone delivered a counter after a Peacocks shot was saved by Makela. She planted it past Kristinsdottir for the game-winner.
UP NEXT
This coming Wednesday (Sept. 23), the Mount travels to Rider. Kickoff is 7 PM from Lawrenceville.
